Our Dose Tech
Our Dose Tech uses AI along with tools from the emerging science of Dose Management, a blend of dose counting with personal goals, to help patients manage their regular dose taking.
Dose Tech uses patient generated data to enable tracking of patient's daily drug dosing trends and aids interpretation of their health data by using a blend of Dose Charting and Dose Management.
Currently our Dose Tech supports Tacrolimus, an immunosuppressant.
Our AI-based Predictive Tech, also supports Tacrolimus and can accurately forecast a patient's Tac level at next bloods.
Together they are available as the Intelligent Assistant, TrackMyTac®
Dose Measurement
Our Dose Tech uses 30-day cycles with time intervals of 12 or 24 hours between each dose. From these we calculate ADaM or DAMe, if preferred:
-
Adherence. Missed doses and Drift are combined to form an Adherence value between 1 and 100. For patients with no missed doses, Adherence will hover around 100, with 95 being the norm;
-
Drift. The difference between the expected 12/24 hour time interval and the actual interval, usually a few minutes either side of 12/24 hours;
-
Missed doses (Doses not taken). Each time a dose isn't taken, our IA's remember!
Dose Charting
If a picture can paint a thousand words, then a chart should paint a thousand values.
Our Dose Tech provides patient dose charts, showing when each dose is taken:
We take great care in selecting chart colours to help interpretation of chart data and Dose Tech values:
Dose Management
Regular feedback helps patients thrive. We use two kinds of feedback to help patients manage their dose taking:
-
Coaching. Every patient using TrackMyTac is automatically coached. The snip above shows typical coaching for a patient who has missed 4 doses in the past 22 days. Coaching tends to emphasise positive outcomes to achieve best results;
-
Mentoring. Every day DoseBuddy, our mentoring assistant, produces a dose status. For daily doses taken correctly it's ✅ , otherwise it's ❌ . A fellow patient, ideally from a similar age group, can monitor the Status and if too many ❌ are present, can act as a mentor. A typical mentoring display is below. The daily display lasts for seven days and restarts every Monday.
By the end of 2025 we expect to have extended mentoring to friends and family to facilitate mentoring in the patient's wider community, particularly for more mature patients.
Some of the Science behind our Dose Tech
Aside from the select use of colour in our Dose Charting, a lot of behind-the-scenes work also goes into:
-
Selecting the coaching tone and pace; neither too censorious nor over tolerant. Benchmarking a voice idiom of this kind is time consuming and invariably results in compromises;
-
Setting a context for the daily mentoring feedback. We chose 7-day Monday to Sunday mentoring to provide a weekly context for all mentoring;
-
From Q4 25 we are expecting to offer an advanced Coaching idiom with three selectable voices: Partner (similar to existing coaching); Nag (Numbers and go-do-better) and Chilled (very relaxed).
And why Dose Tech is important
-
Dose Tech can make a big contribution to Digital Clinical Safety by helping ensure that drugs are taken on-time and in the correct amounts;
-
For some drug types, doses and prescriptions have doubled over the past 10 years. More alarmingly, the proportion of people taking four or more medications daily has nearly quadrupled over 20 years. Dose Tech helps measure the effectiveness of timed dose taking; in particular, how many doses are wasted and how successful drug assimilation really is;
-
For older patients with increasing numbers of illnesses, daily drug volumes can overwhelm. Lowered real-time Adherence values can draw the attention of health care professionals to this;
-
For some patients, especially younger generation ones, the prospect of taking drugs in perpetuity for rest of life can seem both daunting and frightening; in addition, many are predisposed towards not taking drugs at all or choosing those to take. Dose Tech can help ease a heavy burden and gradually introduce long term behavioural change by using digital coaching;
-
Our Dose Tech also has STANT (Stop the App, Need Time Out) that halts all Dose Charting and Measurement allowing stressed patients to breathe easier and consider their emotional response prior to seeing their medical professional.
